Southern Championship Fishing Trail was proud to assist Stanly County Hospice with it's 8th Annual Fishing Tournament at Alcoa Landing (Badin Lake). On May 12, 2012, fifty-four teams came out to compete for a guaranteed $1,000 1st Place Prize. With 21.38 lbs. the top spot went to Terry James and Alan Griffin. The pair also wrangled up Big Fish of the day which earned them an extra $540. In addition to that, James and Griffin took home a Champion boat prize of $100. In total, the team walked away with $1,640 in prize money. 2nd Place and $800 went to Nick Mann and Michael Hedgcock who brought in a sack that tipped the scales at 19.21 lbs. Bob Jennett and Derck Crumbley had enough for 3rd Place. They found 17.87 lbs. which earned them $500. $400 and a 4th Place finish was awarded to Jason Threadgill and Scott Threadgill who brought in 16.46 lbs. Not far behind with 16.35 lbs. was John Kristler and Rusty Melton. For their 5th Place finish, Melton and Kristler pocketed $300. Curtis Cox and Todd Treece claimed $200 and 6th Place with 16.07 lbs. 7th Place and $150 went to Ken Culliphen and Jim Fulginiti who had 15.86 lbs. Greg Gooch and Gary Abbott took 8th Place. Their sack which weighed 15.78 lbs. earned them 125.
